In 1827, Captain John Tibbett deeded 3 acres of his land in Cape Vincent, New York to the US government for a lighthouse. The present lighthouse, built in 1854, stands 58 feet high, 69 feet (21 M) above the water of Lake Ontario. The original fourth order fresnel lens is still in operation. The site served as a US Coast Guard station from 1939 until the light was automated in 1981. The town of Cape Vincent took over the lighthouse in 1991, and the property is now maintained be the Town of Cape Vincent and the Tibbetts Point Lighthouse Historical Society.
Digital photography has opened a whole new world for me, and I find that I am enjoying it again. Most of my work is done in a studio, but I get out and do landscape and scenics when I have the opportunity. I will let my images speak for themselves as I post them here.
